Junming Qian received his B.S. in Biological Science from Zhejiang University(ZJU) in 2020. While at ZJU, he was an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Yongqun Zhu’s lab focusing on molecular mechanisms of pathogenic bacteria-host interactions. He did his undergraduate thesis in Dr. Rudolf Jaenisch’s lab, mentored by Dr. Shawn Liu, at Whitehead Institute | MIT between 2019-2020, where he studied the reactivation of the MECP2 gene by multiplex epigenome editing to rescue Rett Syndrome. From then on, his interests in epigenome editing grows. Junming started his Ph.D. training in the Physiology and Cellular Biophysics program, and co-mentored by Drs. Shawn Liu and Stavros Lomvardas since 2022. He seeks to do research in epigenome editing tools developments and application. Outside of the lab, Junming enjoys traveling and reading.
